Privacy Policy

Yamme helps people discover sports facilities and organize free recreational pickup games. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, who may receive it, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you.

1. Who is responsible for privacy

Yamme is responsible for personal information under its control. The person responsible for the protection of personal information may be contacted through Yamme support at support@yamme.ca.

Privacy questions, complaints, access requests, correction requests, consent withdrawals, and deletion requests may be directed to that contact.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Yamme, we may collect account identifiers, email address, display name, home city, profile biography, authentication information, preferred sports, skill level, recurring availability, playing preference, games created or joined, organizer status, attendance history, XP and contribution history, organizer reviews, reports, support messages, device and browser information, IP addresses, security logs, and location information when you choose to provide it.

Public or community-visible game information may include the sport, date, time, facility, organizer name, participant list, skill level, playing preference, organizer-selected game recommendation, equipment requirements, attendance or reliability information, organizer rating, and other details needed to coordinate the game.

For a game, an organizer may choose a recommendation of Mixed, Men, or Women. Yamme stores and displays that selection as game-listing metadata only. Yamme does not ask participants to provide sex or gender information for this feature, does not verify a participant's sex or gender, and does not use this label to determine whether a person is eligible to join a game.

3. Why we collect and use information

We use personal information to create and secure accounts; operate maps, profiles, games, waitlists and availability matching; match playing preferences for automatic matchmaking; manage attendance and XP; calculate community trust signals; send confirmations, reminders and cancellations; provide support; investigate safety reports; moderate content; prevent fraud, spam and abuse; maintain records; improve reliability of the platform; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information.

4. Location, profiling, and automated processing

Precise device location is optional. When you choose to use a location feature, coordinates may be used to show nearby facilities or games. You can search manually without granting location access.

Yamme may use availability, field preferences, playing preference, attendance, XP, ratings, and similar activity to rank or suggest games, calculate community metrics, or automate parts of matchmaking and moderation. These features are intended to support coordination and safety, not to make decisions about employment, credit, insurance, health care, or other high-impact services.

The Men, Women, or Mixed game recommendation is not used for automated eligibility decisions or identity verification. Automatic matchmaking does not inspect, infer, or compare a participant's sex or gender against that recommendation.

Where applicable law gives you rights relating to a decision based exclusively on automated processing, you may contact us for information or human review.

5. Information visible to other users

Signed-in community members may see information necessary for participation and trust, including your display name, home city, profile biography, games you join or organize, XP, attendance or reliability information, and organizer rating where applicable. Game listings may also show the organizer-selected playing preference and Mixed, Men, or Women recommendation. Your email address, authentication credentials, private support submissions, private reports, and administrative information are not intended to be publicly displayed.

Do not publish home addresses, financial information, identification numbers, private contact details, medical information, sex or gender information about another person, or other sensitive personal information in public profiles or game listings.

6. Service providers and disclosures

Yamme may use third-party providers for hosting, authentication, database services, maps, geocoding, email delivery, security, analytics, and support. Those providers may process information only as needed to provide their services, subject to applicable contracts and legal obligations.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate fraud or abuse, or in connection with a permitted business transaction subject to applicable privacy requirements.

7. Processing outside Quebec

Some service providers may process or store personal information outside Quebec or Canada. Before a disclosure outside Quebec where required by law, Yamme will assess relevant privacy factors and use contractual or other safeguards appropriate to the circumstances.

8. Consent and choices

Where consent is the legal basis for a collection, use, or disclosure, Yamme will request consent in a manner appropriate to the sensitivity and context of the information. Optional functions such as precise location should not need to be enabled to use basic search features.

You may withdraw consent for optional processing where applicable, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawal may prevent certain optional features from functioning.

9. Retention, account deletion, and destruction

While your account is active, Yamme keeps personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain safety and security, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.

When you delete your Yamme account, the account itself and application records linked to it by deletion rules are removed from the live application database immediately. Some records may instead be de-identified where the platform must preserve a non-user-specific operational or moderation history.

Residual copies can remain temporarily in infrastructure backups until those backups rotate. Yamme’s operational target is to remove those residual backup copies within 30 days. Limited fraud, security, abuse, support, or legal records may be retained for up to 90 days after account deletion when reasonably necessary, and longer only when required by law, needed to establish or defend a legal claim, or necessary to address a serious safety matter.

When retained information is no longer required, Yamme will delete, destroy, or anonymize it in accordance with applicable requirements.

10. Security and confidentiality incidents

Yamme uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, such as access controls, secure authentication, encrypted connections, restricted administrative access, and monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Yamme will assess confidentiality incidents, take reasonable measures to reduce harm, maintain required records, and notify affected individuals and the appropriate authority where the law requires notification because of a serious risk of harm.

11. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information held about you, correction of inaccurate information, information about categories of people who have access to it, information about retention, withdrawal of certain consent, deletion or de-indexing where applicable, and information about how an automated decision was made where the law provides such a right.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request.

12. Minors

Users must satisfy Yamme’s minimum-age requirements and any applicable requirements for parental or guardian authorization. Yamme may apply additional privacy or safety restrictions where appropriate for younger users.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices, services, providers, or legal obligations change. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate notice and an updated effective date so users can review them.

14. Contact and complaints

For privacy questions, complaints, access requests, correction requests, consent withdrawal, or account-deletion requests, contact the person responsible for privacy at support@yamme.ca or use the support form.
